Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored porcelain that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth.

At Dental Group of Morristown, we offer high-quality traditional porcelain veneers customized to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth. In addition, our doctors are skilled in cosmetic dentistry and will work with you to ensure you are satisfied with your new smile.

No matter how minor, imperfections can significantly impact how we feel about ourselves. Luckily, cosmetic treatments like veneers can give you the beautiful, natural-looking smile you have always wanted.

Poor Oral Hygiene

Poor oral hygiene habits can lead to many dental problems, including tooth decay, cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. In addition, these problems can cause your teeth to become discolored, stained, or uneven. If left untreated, these problems can eventually lead to tooth loss.

Genetics

Unfortunately, some people are simply born with teeth that are misshapen, crooked, have gaps or are predisposed to weaker enamel.

Aging

Our teeth can become yellowed or stained from years of wear and tear as we age. The enamel on our teeth can also become thinner, making them more susceptible to damage and decay.

Staining Foods and Beverages

Some specific foods and beverages can cause our teeth to become stained or discolored. Some of the most common culprits are coffee, tea, red wine, and dark-colored fruits and juices. Smoking is also a major known cause of tooth staining.

Trauma from an Accident

An injury to the mouth can cause our teeth to become cracked, chipped, or broken. Front teeth are especially vulnerable to this type of damage. If left unaddressed, these problems can lead to more serious dental issues.

Teeth Grinding

Teeth grinding (Bruxism) is a condition that can cause our teeth to become worn down, cracked, or chipped and usually occurs at night while we’re sleeping. It can also lead to jaw pain, headaches, and TMJ. Along with veneers, it may be recommended that you wear a nightguard to protect your teeth from further damage.

Transforming Your Smile with Porcelain Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers are an excellent way to improve the appearance of our smile and have been used for decades by celebrities and everyday people alike. Veneers are custom-crafted thin porcelain to bond over the front of your teeth.

They are an ideal solution for several dental imperfections like:

Stained or Discolored Teeth

Teeth that are stained or discolored can be transformed with veneers. Porcelain is stain-resistant, so your veneers will stay white and bright for years.

Gaps or Crooked Teeth

If you have misaligned or crooked teeth or gaps between your teeth, veneers can give you a straighter, more aligned smile.

The Shape or Size of Teeth

If you are unhappy with the shape or size of your teeth, veneers can be used to change their appearance. Veneers can make teeth appear longer, wider, or squarer.

Chipped, Cracked, and Uneven Teeth

Porcelain veneers can also be used to cover up chipped or cracked teeth. This not only hides the existing imperfections but also protects your teeth from further damage.

The Porcelain Veneer Procedure

At Dental Group of Morristown, we understand that getting porcelain composite veneers is a big decision, and our highly-skilled dentists will work with you every step to ensure you are happy with your new smile. The dental veneer procedure typically takes place over two appointments.

During your first appointment, we will start with natural tooth preparation. This involves removing a small amount of healthy tooth enamel from the front of your teeth so the veneers can be bonded. Once your teeth have been prepared, we will take impressions so the veneers can be custom-made to fit your smile.

The impressions of your teeth are sent to a dental lab. It typically takes about two weeks for your permanent veneers to be ready. In the meantime, temporary veneers will be placed for you to wear.

Once your veneers are ready and back in the office, you will come in for your second appointment. During this appointment, we will remove your temporary veneers and bond the new porcelain veneers in place. Your dentist will make necessary adjustments at this time to ensure a comfortable fit and natural look.

You will need to follow any after-care instructions and continue with teeth brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits to ensure optimal oral health.
